Do you know a cheesmaker to whom I could become apprenticed?

First day at work! Exciting!

Although, I'm really, really tired right now, and I haven't even done much work. DX Probably from all the hellos and the forms.

Second day of work! Boring!

Although, I did get my dentist appointment rescheduled and all my forms turned in and my doctor's appointment...

(I'm kind of seriously freaking out, now, though, because I found out I need blood work done. AND I'm going to have to make a phone call to the doctor to see if she won't schedule my chest x-ray in advance, which is just wreaking havoc on my social anxiety there.)

AND I finally got my replies to Hiro and Asami done! Even though, the wa-puro I'm using leaves MUCH to be desired. Like, for example, KATAKANA.

Anyway, you don't care about that. You probably don't even care about all the dramas I'm about to tell you about.

Ryokiteki na Kanojo 1
Hey, that guy from SMAP is in this! The one with the face. You know. (Kusano Tsuyoshi?) Originally I was like, "Hey, it's that guy from SMAP!" but them I looked him up and didn't recognize the name so I thought I must be wrong BUT THEN on the correlation chart it didn't show his picture, which made me suspicious, and sure enough, it WAS that guy from SMAP. With the face.

I should also say, I've never seen "My Sassy Girl" (the movie this drama is based on). So I won't be comparing it to the original. I do have to say, it's actually been pretty funny. You know, what with Giant Tuna Man and the main characters being awesome.

JOUKEN WA NAN DESU KA??

That was an AMAZING montage. It felt kind of like Zelda, though. Find the briefcase to give to the yakuza, so they'll do what the boxer wants, ..., so you can get the golf bag so the pawn shop owner will give her the bear so she'll tell his maybe unmei na hito that they're actually strangers. HAHAHA, I LOVE THOSE.

I'm actually looking forward to watching this series.

Zettai Kareshi 5
MIZUSHIMA HIRO, NEVER LEAVE ME. I like how he leans over with his hands in his pockets to talk to people. (*^^*)

Anyway, right, robots. Ummmmmmmm.

Apparently Knight is starting to have a life of his own, and is therefore manifesting this other personality like the HULK, by which I mean he destroys things (and then has no memories). This usually happens when Riiko is hanging out with Soushi, but.

Wait... is his character's name really Soushi, or am I having some kind of Kabuto induced hallucination?

Anyway, yeah, she's seriously falling for Soushi, I think, and then he takes a demotion to save her from being fired, so. There's that. And he seriously fakes her out :P But, yeah, I'm kind of wondering where this is going to go (in the immediate future. I already know how it's going to end).

Kimi Hannin ja Nai yo ne? 6
The case of the woman killing her fiance and pinning it on a suit of armor!

I do seriously love this show, even if it is ridiculous. AND THEY REFERENCED ANTONIO INOKI. WIN. But mostly, I enjoy her ridiculous jobs :P Although, now we're learning about her mysterious repressed past, so... we'll see how that goes.

Gokusen 3 5
...Have I see this plot somewhere before? I'm kinda feeling deja vu, here. Well, and next episode where Kuraki apparently gets beat up saving the girl he likes. Hmmmmm...

But the good news, I think I just didn't like Kai and I can stop holding it against Ishiguro Hideo so much. Also, the free-ter - breeder thing was AWESOME, for SERIOUS. I enjoyed this episode the most so far, actually. (^^)

VS Arashi 6
...except how I did translate this entire episode. So, obviously

BIG SPOILERS

Was this the best episode of VS Arashi yet? I DON'T EVEN KNOW. I COULDN'T EVEN TELL YOU.

But let me tell you what I do know:
[Constructed from memory, BTW, so.]

Sho: I think we might be able to win against today's guests.
Nankai Candies: *comes out* HEY!
Yama-chan: I'm sorry but, we came here to win. Right, Shizu-chan?
Shizu-chan: Well, the person I like is here, so...
Arashi: And just to make sure, that person is...?
Shizu-chan: Aiba <3
Aiba: *is embarrassed* Sorry, sorry.
Arashi: Ah, so, Shizu-chan will help us out, right?
Yama-chan: OH COME ON.

[Yama-chan on pole catch]
Arashi: So. Nice knee pads.
Yama-chan: Now do you understand how serious I am?
-----
Ohno: So, I hear you go to autograph sessions for idols.
Yama-chan: *somehow manages a double catch*
Arashi: Wait, no, what?
Yama-chan: Well, I went to a live in Akihabara with a young new idol and I thought I'd support him. If I take off my glasses and mess up my hair, no one recognizes me. He didn't realize until I said "Make it to Yama-chan."

[Aiba goes on the pole catch]
Yama-chan: Then I guess Shizu-chan will drop the pipes.
Shizu-chan: *goes to follow Aiba*
Sho and Yama-chan: BEHIND THERE.
Shizu-chan: ??
Arashi: Hey, Aiba, ask her which pipes she's dropping, maybe she'll tell you!
Aiba: *puts on innocent, sweet expression* Shizu-chan, which pipes are you dropping?
Yama-chan: HEY.
-----
Shizu-chan: So, when were on location you mentioned you love fried chicken.
Aiba: *looks at her* I do.
Shizu-chan: So I started to practice so I could make some for you.
Aiba: *looks mortified* What??
Shizu-chan: So next time, please eat-- *drops pipes*
Aiba: *dives and ends up on the floor after catching nothing*
Arashi: !!!!!
Aiba: I... I just didn't think she'd talk about fried chicken.
Yama-chan: Did your heartbeat speed up?
Aiba: I guess... it did.
Audience: OOOO~OOO~
Aiba: HEY NOW WHAT'S ALL THAT.

[Shizu-chan on pole catch, MatsuJun on pipe dropping]
Yama-chan: Well, before she liked Aiba, MatsuJun was her favorite you know.
Arashi: So it's like an ex-boyfriend type deal?
RED BOX: Ex-Boyfriend!?
Shizu-chan: I'm sorry. I'd just like to forget that time.
MatsuJun: *can't decide whether to be embarrassed or amused*

MatsuJun tries Nino's strategy of pretending to know something incriminating and then dropping the pipes right away, but that kind of failed spectacularly for him.

Arashi: So. They have a lot of points and we have none. Who's going next?
Nino: *raises hand to go with head down and not saying anything*
[Yama-chan on pole dropping]
Itou-san: So, you picked them, right?
Yama-chan: Right. [2 and 3]
Nino: *looks at him* It's these two, isn't it? *grabs 2 and 3*
Yama-chan: NO IT IS NOT WHAT MAKES YOU SAY THAT.

Strangely, Nino doesn't go with his instinct even though he was right and therefore only catches one, even though he promised a double catch.

Arashi:The ones you predicted were totally right though.
Nino: No way.
Yama-chan: When you picked them out, I thought "Ah, that's it, we've been beat!"
Shizu-chan: Well, the audience's response kind of give it away, these mesudomo. [She's using a polite suffix, but she's also using a word for female only used for animals, so it's pretty rude.]
Arashi: THEY ARE THE GUESTS.

[Wall-climb: YAMA PAIR VS. YAMA-PAIR]
Arashi: Do you guys want to go first or what?
Yama-chan: Well, I dunno, what should we do?
Shizu-chan: We'll go second.
Yama-chan: ...I wanted to discuss it, but.
Arashi: Okay, so, who are we sending? There's someone who hasn;t gone yet, right?
Sho: Well I haven't gone yet.
Arashi:
MatsuJun: Let's think about this logically. Logically.
Sho: But I HAVEN'T GONE YET.
Arashi: *ignores him* Well, you've gone, and you've gone, and--
Sho: *goes over and begins pantomiming climbing*
Yama-chan: He's warming up! He's doing a simulation.
Arashi:
Nino: ...Sho, we can trust you right?
Sho: Trust me!
Nino: Okay, let's let Sho do it. ...So, who's going to be supporter?
Nino: Not me.
Jun: Not me.
Aiba: Not me.
Ohno: *is left standing there alone*
Ohno: *begins pantomiming pushing over the supporters*
RED BOX: It's going to be Ohno!?
Yama pair: *do an extended simulation without saying anything*
RED BOX: Simulation?
Aiba: It's TV, so at least talk!
Itou: *announces things*
Nino: Hah, look at this! Arashi's old man team!
Sho: HEY. No matter how you look at it, it's older brother team. Satoshi, how old are you again?
Ohno: 27. (but says it in old-man speak)
Sho: And I'm 26. ...So I guess we are getting close to 30, huh?

Sho actually does well on the climbing. At the end he actually pulls himself up using only his arms. But.

Arashi: So, who's going for you guys?
Shizu-chan: Yama-chan. Actually, you'd surprised, he did do sports a LONG time ago, so.
Yama-chan: *is not so sure about this*
Arashi: [to Shizu-chan] And you'll be supporter?
Shizu-chan: Uh-huh.
Yama-chan: DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT "SUPPORTER" MEANS?

Yama-chan's big plan? To go quickly at the bottom so he has more time at the top. He starts off pretty well, but Shizu-chan fumbles a pass (the show's first), and he doesn't do so well, putting Arashi in the lead.

Arashi: GUYS, WE MIGHT WIN THIS TIME.

HAHAHAHA, how naive they are.

Sho: So, who are you going to pick for the rolling coin tower?
Shizu-chan: Of course, it has to be those two.
RED BOX: Shizu-chan's ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend?
Jun: Shall we?
Aiba: Let's.
Jun: Okay! Here we go!
Yama-chan: *is feeling good about this*
Jun: Actually, aren't we a three person team here?
RED BOX: Shizu-chan's, ex-boyfriend, and current boyfriend!
Yama-chan: HEY.

Arashi is doing really well for a while, but then Jun pulls a risky move that topples before Shizu-chan can touch it.

Everyone: Who is it? Who is it?
Itou-san: Matsumoto Jun is out!
Nino, Ohno, and Sho: *HUDDLE OF SHAME AND DESPAIR*
Jun: Wait wait wait. Aren't these plastic things, like, our area?
Itou-san: No, according to the rules, whoever touched it last loses.
Jun: Oh.

So they bring out the presents and stuff. Yama-chan has gotten a radio/TV that you can use in the bath (which they keep hitting, of course). Shizu-chan has gotten an electric piano.

Shizu-chan: It's the first time I've received something so nice. To get this and to be caught up in these young men... It's satisfaction.

MOST DAME ARASHI - Another hard decision for our heroes this week.
Nino: So. Who are we going with?
Arashi: *all goes over to Sho's platform and has a pow-wow*
Nino: Well, since we can't decide, shall we do Jan-Ken?
Yama-chan: WHAT ARE YOU GUYS EVEN DOING.
Arashi: Who would you pick, then? Or, better yet, do you want to come up here?
Yama-chan:
[He does anyway, and they put him on Aiba's space]
Arashi: Oh, you'd better take your glasses off, that might be dangerous.
Jun: *takes of glasses and folds them up before nicely putting them aside*
Yama-chan: Hey! Why are you acting like you decided on me already!
Nino: Okay, so, ready set point!
Everyone: *points at Jun*
Jun: *is resigned to his fate*
[Jun is dropped]
Jun: This is my third time!
Arashi: Ah, but at least we showed Yama-chan looking uncool.
Yama-chan: *really does look uncool*

I honestly thought they were going to go with Yama-chan just because, but I suppose Jun was more fun. Although, I might have been tempted to go with Aiba just so Sho would get pulled in too.

Anyway, I was SERIOUSLY DYING during, like, the entire thing. I LOVE THEM.

I really wish someone would teach me how to sub so my translations could go to good use.

I'm also renaming my dumplings. What to, you ask?

DAISEIKOU DUMPLINGS.

Yeah, I learned how to do the sparklies just for this. 文句ある??? >|

The plot of the next Gokusen 3 episode is the same romance plot they used for Kuma in Gokusen 1 and Takeda in Gokusen 2 AND IT'S AWESOME EVERY TIME THEY DO IT because I like watching boys get beaten up for ~the sake of loooove~.

Hahaha, it's so great that they can reuse plots and nobody cares. Otherwise what would we watch? Seriously.

I've been trying my hand with Subtitle Workshop (very easy how-to here), and it's been working out pretty fine. I'm not sure it can do a lot of shiny effects (haven't tried yet), but I guess it's a good start if you want something you can do a basic but good sub with just to learn how to time etc.

Thank you for the link. That really more me being frustrated than anything else, though (^^;) But I really do want to learn! Or, you know, find someone to do the subbing for me after I translate :P

I do know a cheesemaker, actually. :3

And um yeah. There are many programs that'll do simple subs out there.

May 21 2008, 02:58:44 UTC 4 years ago

Hahahaha. I think it'd be a cool job, though. ...would you get sick of cheese? I hope not.

Eh, I've just been foiled several times in the past, and I don't really know anyone who subs, so it's frustrating (^^;)

May 21 2008, 03:57:49 UTC 4 years ago

I agree! He showed me some cheese-making processes once.
Well, you do need to sell most of it.

Timing would kill me dead. But I still saved this for in case I ever want to or something. Valiant struggle, y'know.

I have this little program that makes and edits .srt files. I have a Mac, which I usually assume whoever I'm talking to doesn't, but maybe there's a nice simple program like that out there? I want to try stealing timing from closed captions on DVDs one day. Just to see if I can.

[info]capncosmo

May 21 2008, 13:37:26 UTC 4 years ago

Hahaha, yeah, timing is really killer, isn't it? I guess it might be easier with a program that would let you move second by second though? Hmm.

[info]reka

May 21 2008, 15:06:35 UTC 4 years ago

Possibly. The thing is, my reaction time is terrible. The problem I've had with things that require timing is that while the video can be moved frame-by-frame (except more like frame-by-fraction of a second that is not the actual frame rate), the sound does not. So it's kind of that you need to judge when the voice actually stops and such.

By the way, I have no idea about anything I'm talking about. And the "about... about" really bothers me, but I need to have left several minutes ago, and trying to fix my language does not help, since I am braindead, rambly, and massively grammatically incorrect at this point in time.

Um, sure! There are some bits that I didn't translate word for word, though (mostly Itou-san talking). I could go back and fill those parts in, if you'd like, but I'd need a day or two...
